So it isn’t just the town of Vinales that is worth seeing, but the entire valley, which, by the way, is said to be Fidel Castro’s favorite place in Cuba. Rock Climbing

Vinales is a rural paradise with small villages and cultivated fields, but it is also a paradise for adventure travelers. The limestone faces and the impressive crags called ‘mogotes’ by the locals are definitely a challenge even for the most experienced climbers, and the view of the thatched village houses from above is absolutely stunning.

Vinales Valley is one of the lushes places in the country, and despite having quite a few settlements, it is still a great destination for birdwatchers. There is even a designated bird-watching trail starting at the El Ranchón restaurant near the Cuevas del Indio. There are someinteresting species to be seen, but the trail is worth following even if you ultimately don’t even see any feathery creatures!

There are several tobacco farms in the Vinales Valley, and it’s no secret that some of the best tobacco in the world is being grown here. The caving tours in the Gran Caverna are longer and more difficult, but the groups are lead by experienced guides.
