Accommodation

You don’t have to stay at a four- or five-star hotel whether you are in Havana. There are numerous budget, but quite good hotels all around Cuba, not to mention the several Casas particulares which are way more cheaper than hotel rooms. What are the Casas particulares? These are actually rooms for rent at local people’s houses. Pay attention, because there are several illegal Casas particulares. Look for the typical blue sign of the Casas (which has to be in front of the house or on the front door) or ask for a business card from the owners. In case you are searching for a Casa particular in Havana, it is good to know that the prices of the legal Casas are around 25-35 CUC per night. If you are young and sharing your room with a stranger doesn’t bother you, this is also a great way to save some money. There are also some campings in Cuba, but these are usually far from known and popular cities and places.
