It’s a well established fact that Havana has some amazing restaurants and some even more amazing sights, but what about accommodation, which no traveler can do without? Finding the perfect hotel before actually arriving in Cuba can be a bit difficult, but thankfully it’s very easy to find a great hotel in this beautiful UNESCO Heritage Site city. The Cuban capital can boast of great hotels that cater to all budgets, and all of them are imbued with that special charm that you can only find in Havana. Here are some of the best hotels in Havana, for travelers who are preparing for their trip to Cuba.

Conde de Villanueva, Calle de los Mercaderes

Conde de Villanueva is the kind of atmospheric mansion-turned-hotel that you can only find in Old Havana. This lavish former home used to belong to one of the most prominent members of 19th century Creole aristocracy in Havana, and it still retains a very high class atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, and the best suites are those with a view to the bustling street. If you love cigars, you can get some at the cigar shop located in the same building – it’s one of the best cigar shops in Havana.

Hotel Florida, Calle Obispo

The magnificent entrance to the hotel on Calle Obispo is already an indication that this is one of the best hotels in Havana. This beautiful colonial style building exudes a typical old town charm. There are only 25 guest rooms, which means that you will have to make a reservation well in advance, but the luxurious rooms you will be staying in are worth it! There’s no better place to experience Havana than this hotel.

Hotel St John’s, Calle O

Havana is chock full of amazing luxury hotels, but if you’d rather spend your travel budget on visiting attractions and touring around your destination, a budget hotel is a better choice. But just because you’re on a budget, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy quality accommodation. Hotel St John is clean, comfortable and elegant in a simple way, with a nice indoor pool where you can take a swim and sip a few cocktails.

Some of the buildings in Calle San Ignacio might not be in the best of shape, but that’s no reason to avoid Hotel Beltran, a lovingly restored 19th century building where style is everything. The decor is very Cuban, with pastel colored walls and brightly painted woodwork, airy and light rooms and a picturesque courtyard. Plus, the hotel is just round the corner from the famous Taverna de la Murralla brewpub.

Hotel Nacional, Calle 21 y O

Hotel Nacional is Havana’s most historic hostel, and also one of the most famous hotels in Cuba. Its famous clientele includes Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner and others, and although the hotel might have lots some of its shine now, it still has a great atmosphere that is worth any money.
