The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 1 took a step towards safety when they defeated St George FC 3-0 in a triumphant night for the Red & Black side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Western Sydney Wanderers have walked away 3-0 winners against St George FC on Saturday night in a win that puts the Rooty Hill side back in the driver’s seat as they look to navigate their way out of the relegation zone and into safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wanderers welcomed Anthony Pantazopoulos into the starting side in addition to last week\u2019s A-League additions as they looked to strengthen their chances of survival needing at least four of the remaining six points to stand a chance of retaining their spot in the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St George FC dominated early proceedings, maintaining early possession and forcing the Wanderers into a low block out of the blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although, it would be the Wanderers who struck first through a well worked combination play that found Aydan Hammond, who would convert the cutback to open the scoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edmun Haddad could have capitalised on a goalkeeping mishap, but his strike travelled over the crossbar, as would Lual\u2019s added time strike, which was identical to the chance set up for the opener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visitors would dominate most of the second half, but it would be the Wanderers who made it count. Following an attacking raid, the Red and Black would win a free kick on the edge of the box to which Pantazopoulos would take and force the keeper into a save, only for Tristan Arrarte to knock in the rebound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Max Hately would see his incisive run met, and would combine with Johnny Pavlovic for the Wanderers third as the substitutes would top off a clinical performance that could very well rescue their season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The win was almost identical to their reverse fixture earlier this season, also ending 3-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
