A rock in the defence of the Wanderers National Premier League first team, Cancar was a consistent performer in the side’s campaign earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 20-year-old has made 10 appearances for the first grade side and scored his first goal, the winner in the Red & Black\u2019s 3-2 battle against Mounties Wanderers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cancar, who more recently has been training with the A-League Men\u2019s side this pre-season said he was enjoying learning at the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTraining has been good, learning every day especially with the new boys in my position like captain Rhys Williams,\u201d said Cancar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt gives me a lot of confidence, when you have players around you and a manager that believes in young players to go out and play with confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEveryone\u2019s mentality is just to win and we want to win it this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a very serious conversation, we all talk about it and I think we\u2019re ready. I think we\u2019re more involved as a team this year and everyone is bonding together very well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPersonally, I just want to play and have fun. I just want to play in as many games as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Head coach Carl Robinson praised Cancar\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Phillip is a player that we have kept a close eye on during his development in the Wanderers system over the last year,” said Robinson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Phillip played an integral role and was a strong player in our National Premier League squad and we look forward to watching him continue to grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
